Jacob Stanley was a prolific scorer for Schoolcraft College, racking up 66 points, including 31 goals, over just 53 games. His family and friends now hope the Schoolcraft community and beyond can help Jacob with a different type of goal and challenge, one he is bravely facing.
Jacob, who played for Schoolcraft from 2016-18, was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin Lymphoma after discovering a lump on his neck this summer. The resulting medical bills have been overwhelming for the Westland family.
So on Friday, December 13, when the Ocelots take on Western Michigan, Schoolcraft will wear purple jerseys as a show of support for Jacob. (Violet is the awareness color for Hodgkin Lymphoma). In addition, proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to help with medical bills.
The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Redford Ice Arena, 12400 Beech Daly in Redford.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. No advance sales are available.
