Audition Information

Schoolcraft Theatre auditions are open to the entire Schoolcraft community – students, faculty & staff and community members.  No prior experience is required.

Auditions for each production will take place 6-8 weeks prior to opening, and audition requirements will be provided in advance of each audition.


Audition Schedule

Fall 2021 Production

Something at Last, by Michael Alan Herman and Joseph Zettelmaier
Directed by Paul Beer

  • Tuesday September 14 and Wednesday September 15, 2021
  • 7:00 pm (you can expect to stay for two hours; you only need to attend one evening)
  • James R. Hartman Theatre (LA500), Schoolcraft College Livonia Campus
  • Actors should prepare a 1-2 minute monologue that demonstrates your ability to show a range of emotions and tell a story
  • Auditioning for the following roles:
    • Devon, who stumbles into their childhood home in a most unexpected way
    • Quinn, who discovers their career does lie in the ride-sharing economy
    • Jim, who explores Halloween in a re-opened world
    • Kennedy, who discovers a family secret after their mother’s death
    • Ambrosia, who emerges from the pandemic into a renaissance career
    • Jude, who laments the return to “normal” while fishing

Winter 2021 Production

Barefoot in the Park, by Neil Simon
Directed by Paul Beer

  • Tuesday February 1 and Wednesday February 2, with possible call-backs on Thursday, February 3
  • 7:00 pm (you can expect to stay for two hours)
  • James R. Hartman Theatre (LA500), Schoolcraft College Livonia Campus
  • Actors may prepare a comedic monologue (no more than two mintues), and will do cold reading from the script
  • Auditioning for the following roles:
    • Corrie Bratter, newlywed
    • Paul Bratter, her husband, a lawyer
    • Mother, Corrie’s mother
    • Victor Velasco, the neighbor-in-the-attic
    • Telephone repair man
