Course Description

The beauty of watercolor comes from its luminosity and transparency. With this online watercolor class you will be able to see up close as techniques such as various washes, negative painting and special effects are demonstrated. Several paintings of different subject matters will be completed as you explore and refine the techniques you've learned. Painting has been shown to calm the nervous system and reduce cortisol, so come relax and enjoy as you bring out the artistic side that you may not have known you had. This class will take place via Zoom. Login directions will be sent via e-mail. Make sure that PPL has a current e-mail address for you. Have the following supplies available: Watercolor paper: Arches 140 pound, Cold Press Watercolor Pad, 9 x 12 or 10 x 14 Support board that does not let water soak in. Suggestions: a Plexiglass sheet or a dry eraser board or piece of foam core. Paint: Cadmium Light Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Rose Madder, Burnt Sienna, Indigo and Sap Green. Brushes: Flat Brush 1 inch, #8 and #12 Round Brush, Rigger or Liner Brush. Paint Pallet - with wells for each color and with large areas to do mixing. Water Containers: 2 or 3. Masking Tape. Notebook of Water Color Paper: Cold Press, 140lb. 7x10 or larger. Suggested Supplies: Pencil - #2, an HB, or mechanical-pencil with a harder lead that does not smear. Paper towels and/or an old hand towel or washcloth Spray bottle Sponge: natural sea sponge is best Hair dryer
