How Dementia Affects Intimacy & Relationships - Dementia Care Certificate

Course Description

Gain a full understanding of issues surrounding sexuality and intimacy that affect persons with dementia. Topics include: ethical considerations, influence of dementia on sexual behavior, age and disease-related changes in sexual function, and caregiver biases and beliefs. Recommendation: take CES 4303 Fundamentals of Dementia Care first. This class is an elective to complete the certificate. This educational activity is provided by Schoolcraft College, an approved continuing education provider under the Michigan Board of Nursing Administrative Rule R338.10602(g) and is approved for 2 continuing education contact hours for nurses. It is approved for 2 continuing education contact hours for social workers by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative and 0.2 CEUs for all others.
