Beginning Adult Swim Stroke & Technique

Course Description

Students will work on increasing their endurance while also learning new skills in the pool. Students will work on swimming 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Skills to be learned: tread water for one minute, 1/2 lap(25yds) freestyle with proper flutter kick; arm rotations and alternate breathing, 1/2 lap(25yds) backstroke with proper kick and arm rotation, 1/2 lap(25yds) breaststroke with proper kick and arm movement, breathing every stroke, 1/2 lap(25yds) of elementary backstroke; body undulations (butterfly) kick for 12 yards(half length of pool), introduction to diving off side of deep end, comfortable swimming in deep end with out float. For the instructor to recommend a student move to the next level, these skills must be demonstrated. Prerequisite: Basic Swim for the Water Shy Adult; or the ability to float; or some deep water familiarity. Bring goggles to class.
