Academics

Transfer Options

Many students take classes or complete programs with us and then transfer to a four-year institution. Visit our transfer page for more information and then work with an academic advisor to develop a transfer plan that ensures you’re making the most of your time at Schoolcraft. In addition to general transfer, students can also complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement or an Articulation Agreement.

Michigan Transfer Agreement

Students can earn Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) certification by completing a minimum of 30 credits and 9 classes in five subject areas: English Composition/Communication, Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics. When a student with MTA certification transfers to another college or university, all of their lower-level general education requirements should be satisfied. Some exceptions apply, so work with your academic advisor to select the right courses.

Articulation Agreement

We have established more than 40 articulation agreements (also called special transfer agreements) with four-year colleges and universities. These agreements provide a clear transfer path for students and allow them to maximize their time at Schoolcraft.

 Articulation agreements can be labeled as "2 +2" or "3 + 1."

In a “2 + 2” agreement, you take two years of full-time classes at Schoolcraft and then two years full-time at the four-year school. In a “3 + 1” agreement, you complete three years of coursework at Schoolcraft followed by one year at the four-year school.
