Academic Integrity
Schoolcraft College takes matters of academic integrity and dishonesty seriously. Therefore, it’s important for you to learn about plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty to ensure you avoid them as you progess through your studies here.
Plagiarism includes the use, by paraphrase or direct quotation, of the published or unpublished work of another person without full and clear acknowledgement. It also includes the unacknowledged use of materials prepared by another person or agency engaged in the selling of term papers or other academic materials.
Cheating occurs when students receive unauthorized assistance on quizzes, tests, or exams; use unauthorized sources to write papers, reports, or otherwise complete assignments; acquire the academic materials of others, including faculty, without permission; copy someone else's work; submit someone else's work as their own or submit their work for others; or alter graded assignments.
Schoolcraft's Student Code of Conduct outlines these guidelines and other expectations of a Schoolcraft College student.
FERPA and Privacy
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act protects student education records and grants students the right to inspect, review and correct their records. FERPA limits how the college can share information from your record and who has access to that information.
If you would like someone else to have access to your educational record (parent/guardian, other family member, etc.), you will need to complete a FERPA release. For more information, review your rights under FERPA.
