September 14, 2017

Schoolcraft College Hosts Free Mind Trekkers Event for Area Middle School Students and the Community To Generate Excitement about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Opportunities

Schoolcraft College will host Michigan Technological University’s (MTU) Mind Trekkers on Friday, Sept. 22 for registered school districts and their middle-school students. The public is invited to this free event on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The free events help students and interested members of the community understand the academic path that is available via Schoolcraft College and MTU, leading to careers in STEM industries.

The events will feature volunteers from Schoolcraft College and MTU offering dozens of experiments and demonstrations exploring STEM.  Past experiments and demonstrations included using 3D cameras, the ballistics car that is propelled by only a ball, fluorescent rocks, how hovercraft work, how many nails can be balanced on a single nail head, vortex cannons and wind energy, just to name a few.
