Wayne State University Extends Its Confucius Institute Programs to Schoolcraft College
A ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 17 dedicated the expansion of Wayne State University’s Confucius Institute to the campus of Schoolcraft College. The Confucius Institute is located in Wayne State’s office and classroom space within the Jeffress Center on Schoolcraft College’s main Livonia campus.
The Confucius Institute is a center within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Wayne State University whose mission is to provide and support Chinese language and cultural programs for K-12 schools, the university community, and professional communities in southeastern Michigan and beyond. According to John Brender, Director of the Confucius Institute at Wayne State University, the extended programming at Schoolcraft College will begin with Confucius Café lectures every Tuesday at noon and will eventually expand to offer every Confucius Institute program that Wayne State offers on its main Detroit campus.
