Thank You Schoolcraft Community for Your Support

I am happy to report that the unofficial results show that the Schoolcraft College Ballot Proposal passed yesterday and will restore the original 2.27 property tax millage rate the community approved in 1986, an increase from the current 1.78 mills we currently receive. 

I’m sure you are aware of the many months of work that have gone into this effort.  We began last fall, and have acted on your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. We knew it was important that you—the Schoolcraft Community—was supportive of our millage restoration, and we’ve had many opportunities to hear from you during the past fifteen months.  We’ve learned a lot along the way, and these insights have made Schoolcraft a better institution. 

I want to thank each community group and individual who has supported this important ballot proposal. While this restoration is not a windfall, it does help provide Schoolcraft College with financial stability going forward and enables us to sustain and enhance programs and services that are valuable to our students and the community. 

With this millage restoration, the community is telling us we’re doing a good job, and we will continue to serve our students and community into the future.
