Empty Bowl Luncheon Helps Students with Food Insecurities

November 15, 2018

Empty Bowl Luncheon at Livonia Campus to Help Raise Funds for Schoolcraft College’s Student Food Pantry

Student Activities is sponsoring the annual Empty Bowl luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the Wilson Room of Henry’s Food Court in the VisTaTech Center to support the college’s student food pantry.

At the event, participants can purchase a hand-crafted bowl created by students in ceramic classes, have a bowl of soup donated by Food Services and fresh-baked bread made by Culinary Arts students. This simple meal is a reminder of the challenges of those facing food insecurities. Proceeds from the event will be used to stock the food pantry that provides food to students in need on the Livonia campus.

In addition to the Empty Bowl Luncheon, a Chili Bowl event held recently at the Radcliff Center in Garden City helped stock that location’s student food pantry with non-perishable food.
