Phi Theta Kappa Once Again Earns 5 Star Chapter Status

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society textPhi Theta Kappa is the world's largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students.

Congratulations are in order for our very own Schoolcraft College Phi Theta Kappa Omicron Iota Chapter as they have once again achieved 5 Star Chapter Status. The organization is ranked based on developing an Honors in Action Project and getting involved at the international level. 

Phi Theta Kappa's mission is to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming. The awards earned by our students are: 

  • College Project Hallmark. The purpose of the College Project is to establish a supportive relationship between the chapter and the college administration. 
  • Honors in Action Hallmark. Phi Theta Kappa has an Honors Program, Honors in Action designed to engage students in informed action that fosters student success and helps fulfill our mission to provide college students opportunities to grow as scholars and leaders.
  • 5th Runner up for Distinguished Officer AwardSteffanie Hills
  • Richard Trombly Scholarship AwardDrake LaForge
  • Combined score determines the Most Distinguished Chapter in the state – Our chapter took 1st Runner up behind Jackson College. 
  • Paragon Advisor AwardLawrence Choraszewski. This award recognizes advisors who have served less than four years and have made significant contributions to the growth of the individual chapter members, served as the chapter’s advocate on campus, and encouraged the chapter to be involved on the local, regional, and/or international level of the organization. 
  • Continued Excellence Advisor AwardTodd Stowell. The Continued Excellence Award for Advisors recognizes advisors who have served at least four years and have previously won a Distinguished Advisor Award. Winners have made significant contributions to the growth of the individual chapter members, served as the chapter’s advocate on campus, and encouraged the chapter to be involved on the local, regional and/or international level of the organization.
