The Schoolcraft College Theatre department is pleased to announce the 2019-2020 season at the James R. Hartman Theatre! We have a few exciting changes for this season. Three plays are being offered this season: Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire; Sylvia by A. R. Gurney; and, It Came From Mars by Joseph Zettelmaier. Each play will run for two weekends, and there will now be a Sunday matinee on the first weekend of each run.  During the fall and spring shows, patrons can still choose between dinner theatre and performance only; the winter show will be performance only. In addition, tickets will now be available online.

The new season opens with the 2007 Pulitzer-prize winning play Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Paul Beer. Performances will run from October 25-November 2, with an optional dinner theatre available during Friday and Saturday performances.

Rabbit Hole tells the story of Becca and Howie Corbett, who had a picture-perfect life until a tragic accident took their four-year old son.  In their struggle to make sense of their loss and to find comfort, they drift apart, each seeking their own path to recover from their grief.  Complicated by the presence of Becca’s sister and mother, the entire family offers a masterclass in navigating life while feeling their way through the dark toward comfort and healing.  David Lindsay-Abaire’s play entertains as it shifts from grief to wit, to survival, and even hope.

In January 2020, Paul Beer will direct the comedy Sylvia by A.R. Gurney.  Performances will run from January 24-February 1.  No dinner theatre is available for the winter play.

Finally, March 2020 brings our spring play, It Came From Mars, a farce written and directed by award winning Michigan playwright Joseph Zettelmaier.  Performances will run from March 20 - 28, with optional dinner theatre on Friday and Saturday evenings.
