Beautiful, colorful bowls of all shapes and sizes filled three long tables as the smell of hot soup and fresh-baked bread delightfully wafted through the air. The festive scene at the Wilson Room in the VisTaTech Center provided the setting for the annual Empty Bowl fundraiser, which raised $1,830 to help replenish the Student Food Pantries on the main Livonia campus and at the Radcliff Center in Garden City.

At the event, sponsored by Student Activities, participants purchased hand-crafted items created by students in ceramic classes and enjoyed a bowl of soup donated by Food Services and a variety of bread made by Culinary Arts students. This simple meal was a reminder of the challenges of those facing food insecurities.
