Search for next Schoolcraft College President Begins

January 27, 2020

Schoolcraft College has named Brian D. Broderick, Chair of Schoolcraft College’s Board of Trustees, as the leader of the search committee for the next school president. An executive search firm will be engaged to assist in identifying candidates for this role.

Dr. Conway A. Jeffress, who led Schoolcraft College to unprecedented growth in enrollment and physical size during his tenure as president, announced on January 10 that he is retiring. Jeffress has served as president of the two-year community college since July of 2001.

“Dr. Jeffress has been an incredibly dynamic and effective leader of Schoolcraft College,” Broderick said. “His tenure has been defined by academic success and incredible growth, all focused on providing the highest level of success for our faculty, staff, and, most important, our students. We wish him the very best in his retirement.”

Among many notable advancements during his tenure, Jeffress oversaw the development of several new buildings and programs, including the Bradner Library, VisTaTech Center, Biomedical Technology building and the recent purchase of the former American Community Mutual Insurance building at the corner of Seven Mile and Haggerty Roads.

“Dr. Jeffress created an incredible era at Schoolcraft College and set the stage for continued success,” Broderick said. “We expect our next president to be an outstanding educator, excellent communicator with faculty, students and staff, and thoughtful collaborator with local, area and state community and business leaders to position Schoolcraft College to even greater success in the coming years.”
