NFL fans with a keen eye can catch a glimpse of a new building going up on Schoolcraft College’s campus in Ford Motor Company’s “Ford Hall of Fans” spot. You can view the clip on Twitter here.

“It was a tremendous thrill and honor to welcome Ford Motor Company to Schoolcraft College and contribute in a small way to what we hope is a very successful campaign,” said Dr. Glenn Cerny, Schoolcraft College president. “We were pleased that our growing, thriving campus provided a great setting for the commercial.”

This is the first time the two-year community college has been a part of a national commercial.

The IHA & St. Joe’s Livonia Medical Center represents the latest example of Schoolcraft College working with business partners to create solutions for industry, the community and students. The center will bring leading physicians and health services to the campus, create educational opportunities for Schoolcraft students and enable students to fill needed jobs in the healthcare industry.

Specifically, the 123,646 sq. ft. facility on the northeast corner of campus will provide primary, specialty and urgent care. It also will partner with Schoolcraft College for health profession internships, clinical experiences and practicums.

“Schoolcraft College was created in part to help serve all members of our community,” Cerny said. “These partnerships create wins for businesses, citizens and our students. In this case, we’re improving access to healthcare for the community while also offering our students innovative ways of learning and access to jobs after they graduate.”

The progress on the new facility offers physical proof of the strong collaboration between SJMHS, IHA and Schoolcraft College, which includes SJMHS’ support of the St. Joe’s Sports Dome and the MercyElite Sports Center on the Schoolcraft College campus.

SJMHS’ Mercy Elite Sports Performance program will be operating out of the MercyElite Sports Center and St Joe's Sports Dome in partnership with Schoolcraft College’s SC Elite Program, providing athletic training, physical therapy, sports performance training and health and wellness services to both youth and adults in the community.

IHA assumed responsibility for the urgent care currently operating on the Schoolcraft College campus. In conjunction with this change, IHA established an internal and family medicine practice within the same building to offer the community additional access to primary care. These services will relocate to the new health center in the future.

The portion of the commercial where Schoolcraft College locations was filmed on the morning of Aug. 12, and production went seamlessly thanks in part to the cooperation of the skilled trades workers from AUCH Construction who were on the job.

“This was a real team effort requiring a lot of cooperation, coordination and logistical support from our construction partners at AUCH and Schoolcraft College staff and our Facilities Management team,” Cerny said. “I especially want to thank Dr. Deborah Vendittelli, our Associate Dean of Nursing, and Robert Rodriguez, Technician in our Health Professional Simulation Lab, for their help in making this a reality.”
