“Take advantage of all of the learning resources available. The writing lab, Learning Activities Center (LAC), and if necessary, individual tutoring. Doing so will ensure success in your studies.”

Meet Keith Dawkins. Dawkins is a 2012 Schoolcraft College graduate who is currently a System Integration Calibrator to Electrical Engineer for General Motors. Prior to coming to Schoolcraft, Dawkins suffered from an illness, but recovered and knew he wanted to put that part of his life behind him and pursue an education, with a helpful push from his sister. He researched many schools, and decided upon Schoolcraft College due to the strong academic support and Math department. Dawkins said that an influencing factor was “Schoolcraft’s strong commitment to ensuring its students have the resources necessary to excel.” This was a deciding factor for him. While getting his AAS, Dawkins says that Schoolcraft helped prepare in every way to transfer and complete his studies at the University of Michigan. During his time at Schoolcraft, he spent two years working in the Learning Activities Center (now Learning Center, LC) helping students who needed assistance in their classes. Now as a professional, Dawkins still gives his time freely to young college students, tutoring them in math and physics.

Dawkins’ advice to students is to take advantage of all of the learning resources available and it will ensure success in your studies.
